Peacock has a surprising range of content for a streamer that most viewers likely think of as a smaller platform. From live “Sunday Night Football” games to original shows like “Poker Face,” Peacock has a huge variety available, but the amount of live programming on the streamer can sometimes lead to technical issues.
If you experience a glitch that causes your Peacock app to freeze, never fear. You won’t have to throw out your smart TV or streaming device; simply follow the instructions laid out below to fix a broken Peacock app on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, or Roku.
How to fix frozen Peacock app on popular devices
How to fix frozen Peacock app on Amazon Fire TV
If the Peacock app freezes up on your Amazon Fire TV, there are two main fixes available to you. First, you should try Force Stopping the Peacock app; this will allow you to unfreeze Peacock while staying signed into your account.
To Force Stop Peacock, open the Settings menu on your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick. Then, scroll to Applications. Navigate to Manage Installed Applications, and scroll to the Peacock app. Then, click Force Stop to clear up your Peacock freezing issues.
If this doesn’t solve the problem, you may have to try clearing the cache on the app instead. This will sign you out, but it should get your Peacock app working again if Force Stopping didn’t do the trick. Follow the same instructions as above, but when you’ve clicked the Peacock app in Manage Installed Applications, choose Clear Cache, then Clear Data. Once you log back into Peacock, you should be good to go.
How to fix frozen Peacock app on Apple TV
The Apple TV 4K device also offers a fix for a frozen streaming app like Peacock. Before trying it, though, you should make sure your tvOS software is completely updated, so all your apps are running at top speed.
If Peacock still freezes up on your Apple TV, you should double-tap the Home button on your Siri remote. This will show you a screen with all your active apps, and you’ll navigate over to the Peacock app. Swipe up on the clickpad or touch surface to force the app to quit.
How to fix frozen Peacock app on Roku
Roku is one of the largest manufacturers of streaming devices in the United States, and if you own one and the Peacock app freezes on it, you’ll first want to check and see that its software is up to date by navigating to the app on the home screen and pressing the star button.
If your app is updated and still frozen, you’ll have to uninstall it. Use the star button to find the uninstall option, then reinstall it to fix the freezing issue.
There’s also a “cheat code” to help you fix an issue on your Roku device. Press the home button on your Roku remote five times in a row, followed by up once, rewind twice, and fast forward twice. This will reset your Roku player or TV, and after it reboots, you should find the Peacock app ready to use once again.
